Bring Japanese Relaxation to the World
Establishment of the company’s factory
We have our own factory specializing in manufacturing samue. In this factory, each samue is carefully made piece by piece while maintaining our commitment to our high quality. Under strict quality standards and inspections and made by Japanese artisans preserving history and tradition, we create high-quality products that can be worn with peace of mind. We are particular about the thread used for the fabric, weaving fabrics suitable for our samue in historic production areas throughout Japan, and developing products that incorporate the wisdom of our predecessors from long ago, while at the same time incorporating functions and modern designs that match the lifestyles of the modern age.
Make Traditional Japanese Garments by Our Own
We value the working environment of our artisans and preserve traditional techniques. With the skills necessary to make traditional Japanese clothing and factory facilities that incorporate the latest technology, we aim to manufacture products that are tailored carefully yet efficiently to meet the needs of the modern age. We are also making efforts to create a good working environment for employees so that we can contribute to the growth of the number of younger generations taking over the traditions. As a manufacturer of Japanese garments, we are eager to keep the traditions and techniques to pass down to young Japanese artisans and strive to bring well-tailored Japanese garments to everyone.

From the Historic Textile City of Kiryu
Kiryu City, where our company is located, is an area that prospered through its long history in textiles, dating back to the reign of Emperor Junnin about 1,300 years ago. The city grew under the protection of the Edo Shogunate. The Kiryu silk market began in 1838, and the foundation of Kiryu textiles was established. Since that time, Kiryu has been highly celebrated in the famous phrase “Nishijin(Kyoto) in the west and Kiryu(Gunma) in the east,” and flourished as a key industry in Japan until the early Showa period (1926-1945), centering on high-end fabrics. Thanks to the water of the Kiryu River, which is suitable for dyeing and washing fabrics, and the nearby silkworm-raising and silk-spinning areas, many textile-related companies still operate in Kiryu, the capital of textiles, and its history has been handed down to the present day. Having pride in 1300 years of traditional techniques and with the wishes of our predecessors in mind, we offer “Japanese relaxing wear” that will be loved for many years to come.
Our Craftsmanship
Our manufacturing focuses on comfort, functionality, durability, and design. We research and develop products one by one to find fabrics and specifications that suit the wide range of uses of samue. We take pride in manufacturing products that are easy to wear and maintain while respecting tradition.
Pay Attention to Details
*The silhouette of the kimono-like shoulders is important. No shoulder seams are sewn together with backstitching.
*A collar with no visible stitches. The technique of concealing the seam makes the collar of each samue look beautiful.
*Double stitching at the back crotch to prevent tearing of the crotch seams
*Bartacking at the slits
*Reinforcement of the straps to make a strong, durable attachment to the garment
We specialize in manufacturing Japan-made samue and jinbei, and have over 100 original product varieties. We produce a wide range of sizes from SS to 4L, and some of our products are available in 17 different colors. In terms of samue made in Japan, we are a company that manufactures and sells the world’s largest lineup of products, which no other company can match. Usually, the production of samue and jinbei is done as a local industry where fabric production is flourishing, and samue and jinbei are produced using fabrics specialized for these regions. However, to make high-quality products, we select the best fabrics from all over the country regardless of the region where the dyeing processes are carried out and search beyond the boundaries of the local industry.
What is Samue?
Samue was originally work clothes for Buddhist monks, which was worn at the temples. It is still worn by them on a daily basis. Because of its ease of movement, it became popular among artisans and Japanese chefs as a garment for all kinds of work related to Japanese culture. There may be a typical image of soba(buckwheat) noodle chefs and potters wearing samue, but this clothing is worn by Japanese artisans of all kinds. The functional yet sophisticated design of samue represents the spirit of craftsmanship so well. Nowadays, the ease and comfort of wearing samue, the spirituality and history unique to collared kimono, and the stylish appearance of samue are attracting renewed attention and becoming widely popular as relaxing wear, loungewear, and everyday wear among the general public.
Provide the Richness of “Wa”(Harmony) to the World
The samue is a comfortable and elegant garment. When you wear it, you can have a simple and unadorned way of being. It is very comfortable and allows you to spend peaceful days enjoying its blessings. Just by quickly putting on a samue, you will feel light on your feet and excited. The samue is a garment that can change your mind and make you want to do something lively. It may be the unique feature of kimono with a collar that makes you feel as if you are standing taller in spirit. Perhaps it is the weight of the history that has been cultivated together with craftsmen. Through samue, WASUIAN will continue to spread the richness of Japanese harmony, “wa”, to the world.
